Our Demolition Process


First things first…

If you’ve decided to demolish your home, you’re going to need a demolition contractor you can trust. We can connect you with experienced, trustworthy contractors we know who can carry out the work.

Licence application and home vacation

Your chosen contractor applies for a demolition licence from your council. While this takes place, it’s time for you and your family to start packing to vacate your old house in preparation for the demolition.



Before any demolition work can begin, your contractor arranges to disconnect any utilities servicing your property. This could include power, water, gas, sewage, and any other services connected to your home.



To ensure the security of your property and the safety of your neighbours, temporary fencing is erected around your property throughout the demolition process. The fencing is removed when demolition is complete.



Rodent baits are laid to ensure vermin don’t cause any problems while your property is vacant. After approximately two weeks, the council inspects the baits to ensure compliance with their requirements.

Demolition licence approval

Once the shire has approved the rat baiting, they begin the process to review your demolition licence application. If everything goes to plan, your demolition licence should be issued within four weeks.


Down it

This is when things get exciting! Your demolition contractor will usually commence work fairly quickly upon receipt of your licence (once you are aware of the start date, we ask that you please let us know!). Your old house should be fully demolished within seven days!


Site inspection and assessment

When the demolition contractor has finished their work, we inspect the site for a range of factors, including site access, fencing, space between neighbouring homes, and a need for retaining. The ground levels will also be reassessed to confirm the extent of earthworks required (we will advise you of any changes to the original scope).
